A habit tracker you buy once

RIPEN is free to use, and the paid part is bought one time. Not nine dollars a month for a list of checkboxes, and not a free tier that quietly locks your own history behind a renewal.

what free actually gives you

One identity with five habits, and everything the tree does: the drawing, the seasons and weather, the day and night sky, marking and undoing, the schedule, the break for illness and travel, fruit at 66 leaves, the public page, and the encrypted copy that moves your tree to a new phone.

There is no trial that expires, and nothing you have grown gets taken away.

what Pro adds, and what it costs

Pro is a single in-app purchase. The price is whatever the App Store or Google Play shows in your country; it is not a monthly or yearly charge, and there is no second tier above it.

Two smaller one-time purchases sit beside Pro and are not part of it: “change the shape” redraws the tree in a different shape, and “sweep fallen leaves” clears the fallen leaves from under it.

the part subscriptions get wrong

A habit tracker is a thing you are supposed to keep for years. That is the whole point of it — the value is the history, and the history only grows. A subscription inverts that: the longer you stay, the more you have paid, and the more it costs you to stop.

It also puts your own record behind a renewal. Miss a payment and the years you logged are still on their server and no longer on your screen.

RIPEN cannot do that to you, and not because we promise: your tree is on your phone, and Pro has no renewal to miss. If a card expires, nothing happens. If you stop using the app for a year and come back, your tree is where you left it.

what there is instead of a subscription

Nothing. There are no ads, no analytics SDK, no account, and nothing is sold to anyone. The app asks for no email and no sign-up, so there is no list you are on.

The one thing the server holds is an encrypted copy of your tree, so you can move it to a new phone. Its key is derived from a phrase you keep, which means we cannot read it. Exactly what leaves your phone, or get the app.
